What Causes HAIR LOSS?
Hair loss is a complex issue with various potential causes, including:
- Genetics – Hereditary factors can cause gradual hair thinning or balding.
- Medical Conditions & Medications – Certain illnesses or medications can affect healthy hair growth.
- Stress – Physical or emotional stress can trigger sudden or patchy hair shedding.
- Hormonal Imbalance – Shifts in hormones may trigger temporary or long-term hair loss.
- Poor Diet or Lifestyle Choices – Lack of nutrients and unhealthy habits, such as smoking or excessive alcohol, can contribute to hair loss.
- Hairstyle or Hair Treatments – Certain tight hairstyles can lead to permanent hair loss, while repeated harsh chemical treatments can weaken follicles over time.

HAIR LOSS Treatment
BRISBANE ROBOTIC HAIR TRANSPLANT
At Brisbane Robotic Hair Transplants, we offer many different treatment options for hair loss depending on your personal preferences, budget, goals and time frame. Understanding what’s best for you can be achieved during one of our complimentary consultations.
Treatment options may include:
- ARTAS iX FUE Robotic Hair Transplant – Uses AI-guided precision to harvest individual hair follicles with minimal damage, ensuring natural-looking results, faster recovery, and a more comfortable experience compared to traditional methods.
- NeoGraft FUE Hair Transplant – The system uses pneumatic controls to precisely extract individual hair follicles intact, which are then immediately transplanted to the targeted areas of the scalp.
- Prescription Medications – Medications for hair loss primarily focus on treating male and female pattern hair loss. These medications can slow down hair loss and potentially stimulate new growth.
- Scalp Laser creates micro-wounds in the scalp which stimulate the body’s natural healing response, leading to increased blood flow, and increased hair growth and thickness.
- Microneedling – Fine needles create injuries in the scalp, boosting blood flow, and increased collagen and growth-factor production all of which encourage natural hair growth.
- LED Light Therapy – Red, blue, and infrared lights stimulate blood flow, reduce bacteria, and stimulate the body’s natural healing process.
- Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP) – Blood is drawn from the arm and spun in a centrifuge to separate blood from plasma. The plasma is rich with natural growth factors and injected into the scalp to promote hair follicle regeneration.
Your doctor will assess your hair line and recommend the most suitable approach for achieving a restored hairline and a fuller head of hair with a natural appearance.
Follicular Unit Transplant (FUT)
FUT surgery involves removing a strip of scalp from the back of the head and harvesting follicular unit grafts for transplantation into areas affected by hair loss.
Suitability for FUT depends on your hair loss pattern, donor hair availability, health, and treatment goals. During a consultation, we assess your individual needs and explain all potential benefits, limitations, and risks.
Individual results vary, and not all patients qualify for surgery.
Follicular Unit Extraction (FUE)
FUE surgery involves removing individual follicular units from the donor area and transplanting them into thinning or balding areas. Our medical team performs the procedure under local anaesthetic, using advanced systems such as the Artas iX Robot or NeoGraft to assist with precision.
Suitability for FUE depends on your hair loss pattern, donor hair availability, health, and treatment goals. During a consultation, we assess your individual needs and explain the potential benefits, limitations, and risks of the procedure.
Hair transplant surgery involves medical procedures that carry potential risks, side effects, and varying outcomes. Individual results differ, and not all patients are suitable for surgery. Your practitioner will discuss your suitability, the potential benefits, limitations, and risks during a consultation. Following pre- and post-operative instructions is important to support healing and optimise results.
ARTAS iX Robotic Hair Transplant Surgery
The Artas iX system uses advanced robotic technology to assist with the precise harvesting of follicular units during FUE hair transplant surgery. The robot maps the scalp to identify the best donor hairs and maintains consistent spacing and angle, which can improve the efficiency and accuracy of graft extraction.
NeoGraft Hair Restoration Surgery
The NeoGraft system uses a gentle pneumatic (suction) device to manually extract individual follicular units and transplant them into areas affected by thinning or hair loss. This method allows the surgical team flexibility in graft placement and can be customised to each patient’s hair density, direction, and restoration goals.
Both Artas iX Robotic Hair Transplant and NeoGraft Hair Restoration procedures are performed by our medical team under local anaesthetic, with post-operative care provided to support healing and recovery.
Our medical team assesses your hair loss pattern, donor hair availability, and treatment goals to determine which system may be most suitable. Individual results vary, and not all patients are suitable for these procedures.
CONSULTATION
Our registered nurses and Dr Mark Chernoff complete a comprehensive assessment to understand your hair loss history and treatment goals. We recommend treatment options based on your medical history, preferences, and suitability.
PREPARATION
If you are a suitable candidate, we develop a treatment plan to prepare your scalp and hair for surgery. Preparation may include our hair loss treatments: medications, topical products, PRP, LED light therapy, scalp laser, or microneedling.
PROCEDURE
Dr Mark, our hair transplant technicians, and our registered nurses perform hair transplant surgery at our Spring Hill clinic, usually over one day. On the day of surgery, we trim your hair and provide sedating medication. Under local anaesthetic, we remove follicular unit grafts (naturally occurring groups of hair) from the back of your scalp and transplant them into areas affected by thinning or loss. Depending on your needs, we use either the Artas iX Robot or NeoGraft system.
RECOVERY
After surgery, we give you post-operative care instructions, a treatment plan, and ongoing follow-up support with Dr Mark and our nursing team.
Individual results vary. Your practitioner will explain the potential benefits, risks, and recovery process during your consultation.
Preventing HAIR LOSS
While not all causes of hair loss can be prevented, some lifestyle and health choices may help maintain healthy hair. These include:
- Avoid smoking and limit alcohol.
- Regular check-ups ensure that your hormones and bloods are within normal range.
- Eating a balanced diet rich in protein, iron, and essential vitamins.
- Minimising stress through healthy coping strategies.
- Protecting hair from harsh chemicals, heat tools, and tight hairstyles that put a lot of stress on your scalp.
If you notice ongoing thinning or shedding, it’s important to seek professional advice, as early assessment can help identify suitable treatment options.
How Much Does Hair Loss Treatment Cost in Brisbane?
The cost of hair transplant surgery varies depending on several factors, including the number of grafts required, the surgical technique, and any additional treatments you choose. Larger areas of hair loss typically require more grafts, which can increase the overall cost.
Pricing may also vary depending on whether you choose Artas iX Robotic system FUE, NeoGraft FUE, or a combination of non-surgical treatments such as PRP, LED, or microneedling to support hair growth.
During your consultation, our medical team assesses your hair loss, donor hair availability, and treatment goals. We then provide a personalised cost estimate that clearly outlines the recommended number of grafts, treatment plan, and associated fees.

Frequently Asked Questions
What are common types of hair loss?
The most common type of hair loss is Androgenetic alopecia (male or female pattern hair loss). Other types of hair loss include telogen effluvium (temporary shedding from stress or illness), alopecia areata (patchy hair loss), and hair loss caused by medical conditions, medications, or hairstyles that pull on the hair. Our registered nurses and Dr Mark Chernoff complete a comprehensive assessment to understand your hair loss history and lifestyle factors contributing to your hair loss.
Should I consider hair loss treatment?
If you notice thinning, shedding, or balding, consult a medical professional to identify suitable treatment options. Early assessment allows our team to recommend surgical or non-surgical approaches that may help manage hair loss.
How do I prevent hair loss?
We perform procedures under local anaesthetic, so most patients experience minimal discomfort. You may notice mild soreness or swelling afterward, and our team provides detailed post-operative care instructions to support healing.
What hair transplant methods are available?
Our clinic performs FUE (Follicular Unit Extraction) using Artas iX Robotic Hair Transplant or NeoGraft, and we offer non-surgical treatments such as PRP, scalp laser therapy, LED light therapy, microneedling, and prescription medications. Our team recommends the method that best suits your hair loss pattern, donor hair, and treatment goals.
How long does it take to see results after hair loss treatment?
You typically notice initial hair growth within 3–4 months. Most patients see more visible improvement around 6–9 months, and full results usually appear within 12–18 months, depending on individual factors and treatment type.
Any surgical or invasive procedure carries risks. Before proceeding, you should seek a second opinion from an appropriately qualified health practitioner.
