Combine RF microneedling and laser energy
target texture, scarring, wrinkles and skin ageing
Are you concerned about wrinkles, acne scars, stretch marks or uneven skin texture? RF microneedling and laser treatments work together to address multiple skin concerns by improving skin texture, firmness and overall skin quality. By combining controlled skin injury with heat and energy-based treatments, the combination stimulates the skin’s natural repair processes and supports collagen remodelling.
Because each treatment works at a different depth, RF microneedling and laser can provide a comprehensive approach to skin rejuvenation. Your treatment plan is tailored to your skin, concerns and desired outcome, with the combination selected to support healthier-looking, smoother and more even skin.
What is RF Microneedling?
RF microneedling, or radiofrequency microneedling, combines precision microneedling with radiofrequency energy to treat the skin at different depths. Fine, sterile needles create controlled micro-injuries in the skin while delivering radiofrequency energy into the deeper tissue.
This controlled process stimulates the skin’s natural healing response and supports collagen and elastin production. As the skin remodels, it can improve the appearance of uneven texture, fine lines & wrinkles, acne scars and stretch marks.
Unlike traditional microneedling, RF microneedling adds controlled thermal energy beneath the skin’s surface. This allows us to target deeper layers while maintaining control over the treatment depth and energy delivered.
Why Combine Rf Microneedling with laser?
RF microneedling creates controlled injury and delivers radiofrequency energy beneath the skin to stimulate collagen remodelling. Laser treatment can then target the skin’s surface and other layers to improve concerns such as pigmentation, fine lines, skin texture and scarring.
By combining the two technologies, we can address different aspects of skin ageing and damage within one treatment plan. This can be particularly useful when treating concerns such as acne scars, wrinkles, stretch marks and uneven skin texture, where both deeper tissue remodelling and surface improvement may be beneficial. The specific laser and treatment settings are selected according to your skin, concerns and treatment goals.

Am I a Good Candidate for RF Microneedling & Laser?
RF microneedling and laser may be suitable if you want to improve the appearance of acne scars, surgical or traumatic scars, stretch marks, wrinkles or uneven skin texture. It may also be an option for people with a specific scar or birthmark they would like assessed, although the area must first be examined to determine whether treatment is appropriate. We can also tailor treatment to smaller, localised areas rather than treating the entire face or body.
Your clinician will assess your skin, medical history, medications and treatment goals before recommending the most appropriate technology and treatment settings. Not every scar, stretch mark or birthmark is suitable for treatment, so an individual assessment is important.
Treatment Options: Laser And
Radio Frequency Microneedling
There is no single combination that suits every skin concern. At Queensland Skin and Laser, we select the most appropriate treatment based on your skin, the concern we are treating, your desired outcome and the level of resurfacing appropriate for you.
RF Microneedling
A standalone option for patients looking to improve skin firmness, texture, fine lines, enlarged pores and overall skin quality through controlled collagen remodelling.
RF Microneedling + 1540nm Erbium Laser
Combines deeper RF microneedling with non-ablative fractional laser energy to target skin texture, scarring, fine lines and skin laxity. This combination supports collagen remodelling while causing less surface disruption than ablative resurfacing.
RF Microneedling + CO₂ Laser
Combines RF microneedling with more intensive ablative laser resurfacing. This approach may be considered for concerns such as more pronounced wrinkles, acne scarring and uneven skin texture where greater surface resurfacing is appropriate.
RF Microneedling + 2940nm Er:YAG Laser
Combines RF microneedling with precision Er:YAG resurfacing. The 2940nm wavelength is strongly absorbed by water, allowing controlled removal of superficial skin layers and treatment of textural irregularities, scars and fine lines.
Your clinician will recommend the most appropriate option after assessing your skin, concerns and treatment goals.

Treatment Process
From your initial consult through to follow-up, our team supports you throughout the treatment process.
Initial Consultation
Every treatment begins with an in-clinic consultation. Our experienced team assess your skin, discuss your concerns and determine whether combination treatment is appropriate. During your consult, we consider your skin type, scarring, pigmentation, previous treatments and desired outcomes. Your consultation helps us determine whether RF microneedling, laser or a combination is appropriate. We also discuss the most suitable laser technology, treatment intensity, expected recovery and potential risks.
Skin Preparation
Laser preparation depends on the technology selected, your skin type and the treatment intensity. Before your treatment, we provide personalised instructions to help prepare your skin and support recovery. This may include reviewing your skincare products, discussing sun exposure and advising which products to pause before treatment.
Treatment
We tailor your treatment to your skin concerns, goals and recovery requirements. Treatment options may include:
- RF Microneedling + 1540 nm Erbium: For selected scars, stretch marks and skin texture.
- RF Microneedling + CO₂: For more intensive resurfacing and textural concerns.
- RF Microneedling + 2940 nm Er:YAG: For controlled laser resurfacing and skin remodelling.
Results & Follow-Up
RF microneedling and laser combination treatments can support collagen remodelling and improvements in skin texture over time. Results vary according to your skin concern, treatment settings, number of sessions and individual response. Some changes may become noticeable during the early recovery period, while collagen remodelling and textural improvements can develop over subsequent months.
We discuss realistic expectations during your consultation and recommend follow-up when appropriate.
Our focus is on supporting long-term skin health through personalised treatment planning, appropriate technology selection and ongoing care.
Risks and side effects
of Treatment
Temporary redness, swelling, warmth, tenderness and sensitivity are common after treatment. Depending on the laser used and treatment intensity, you may also experience peeling, crusting or changes in pigmentation. More significant risks can include infection, burns, scarring and prolonged pigmentation changes, although these are less common.
Your clinician will discuss the specific risks and expected downtime before treatment.

Frequently Asked Questions
RF Microneedling + Laser Duo Treatment
What is RF microneedling + laser combination treatment?
RF microneedling and laser combination treatment uses two technologies to address different aspects of skin texture, scarring and ageing. RF microneedling delivers radiofrequency energy at a controlled depth, while laser treatments target selected layers or structures within the skin. We combine these technologies when appropriate to create a personalised skin remodelling treatment plan.
Why combine RF microneedling and laser?
Combining RF microneedling and laser may help address multiple skin concerns within a comprehensive treatment plan. Depending on the technologies selected, treatment may target collagen remodelling, uneven skin texture, acne scarring, stretch marks and signs of skin ageing.
RF microneedling and laser work differently, allowing us to tailor treatment to the characteristics of your skin rather than relying on one technology for every concern.
What laser treatments can be combined with RF microneedling?
There is no single laser that suits every patient or skin concern. At Queensland Skin and Laser, we may combine RF microneedling with 1540 nm Erbium laser, CO₂ laser or 2940 nm Er:YAG laser. Each laser has different characteristics, treatment applications and recovery requirements. Your skin assessment helps determine which combination may be appropriate.
Is RF microneedling + laser suitable for acne scars?
RF microneedling with 1540 nm Erbium laser may be considered for selected acne scars and other textural concerns. RF microneedling delivers energy at a controlled depth, while the 1540 nm laser can support treatment of deeper skin structures. The appropriate approach depends on the type, depth and characteristics of your acne scars. We assess your skin before recommending RF microneedling alone or a combination treatment.
Can RF microneedling + laser treat stretch marks?
RF microneedling and laser combination treatment may be considered for selected stretch marks. Treatment depends on whether your stretch marks are newer and red or older, pale and textured. We assess the appearance and characteristics of your stretch marks before recommending a treatment approach. Options may include RF microneedling alone or a combination with selected laser technologies.
Is RF microneedling + laser better than RF microneedling alone?
Combining RF microneedling and laser is not automatically better than using one treatment. The appropriate approach depends on the concern being treated and the characteristics of your skin. Some patients may benefit from RF microneedling alone, while others may be suitable for a combination treatment. Our priority is selecting a treatment plan that suits your individual needs.
What is the downtime after combination treatment?
Downtime depends on the technologies used and the intensity of treatment. RF microneedling may cause redness, swelling and sensitivity, while CO₂ and other resurfacing lasers can involve more significant recovery. We explain the expected recovery period during your consultation and provide individualised aftercare instructions.
Any surgical or invasive procedure carries risks. Before proceeding, you should seek a second opinion from an appropriately qualified health practitioner.
